Peggy Fowler, PhD Canidate
Peggy Fowler has a Masters degree in Counseling and Psychology and has completed her Clinical Psychology Doctoral Program, which focused on the treatment for Insomnia. She plans to receive her PhD in the summer of 2009. As a clinician for over 17 years, she has a broad range of experience in the Mental Health Field.

Peggy Fowler has been with Gerald Champion Regional Medical Center since 2007. As a Behavioral Sleep Medicine Specialist, Peggy addresses patient difficulties with Insomnia and Claustrophobia, in her CPAP and Insomnia Clinics. These duties combine with her special interest in pediatric sleep medicine. Peggy is a lifelong resident of New Mexico and currently lives in Cloudcroft. When not working, she enjoys riding her horses, fishing, and spending time outdoors. |

John Paul Simmons, MD
Dr. Simmons obtained his undergraduate degrees in Biology, Botany and Microbiology from East Texas University. He attended medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, School of Medicine. He continued at Texas Tech and was the Chief Resident in Neurology and received training in Neurology and Sleep Medicine.

In 2002, Dr. Simmons relocated his Neurology practice to Alamogordo were he took ownership of the New Mexico Brain Institute, which provides all aspects of neurological care to the community. He is also an expert in Restless Leg Syndrome, which is both a neurological and sleep condition.
Dr. Simmons is Board Certified in Neurology and is slated to obtain his board certification in Sleep Medicine later this year. Dr. Simmons is the Medical Director of the New Mexico Center for Clinical and Behavioral Sleep Medicine and is active in patient outreach regarding the impact of poor sleep on physical and mental health. |

Current clinical and research interests include cognitive-imagery treatment for chronic nightmares, the role of sleep apnea in chronic insomnia, the interaction between fatigue and suicidality, and the prevalence of sleep apnea in chronic hypnotic users. He has also authored three books on sleep disorders, Insomnia Cures, Turning Nightmares into Dreams, and Sound Sleep, Sound Mind.
